Egypt has officially unveiled the HAMZA-3, a long-range kamikaze drone equipped with artificial intelligence and swarm operation capability.

Developed by ONIP, the model was showcased during the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh and features a flying-wing design aimed at reducing radar detection.

With a range of up to 1,800 km and an endurance of 8 hours in the air, the HAMZA-3 can reach a maximum speed of 220 km/h and operate at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters. Its carbon fiber structure keeps the maximum takeoff weight at 210 kg, allowing it to carry a 50 kg warhead.

The navigation system combines GPS, Beidou, and an inertial platform, while an AI-powered seeker head performs image recognition for target identification. Control can be fully autonomous or manual, with real-time video transmission via an encrypted channel of up to 250 km. Launch can be carried out using a rocket booster or a pneumatic catapult.

Among its distinguishing features, the drone includes radio wave-absorbing coating and a passive detection system, enhancing its ability to operate against enemy radars. Additionally, it can be fitted with Lüneberg lenses to simulate the radar signature of a jet fighter, a strategy designed to confuse and saturate air defense systems.
